The Ministry for Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia has honored the Mönchengladbach branch of the OeTTINGER Brewery with the state award for food products. The prize commended the brewery’s commitment to the highest quality as well as attractive and fair working conditions. With production amounting to around 2.1 million hectoliters (2018), the Mönchengladbach Brewery is the OeTTINGER Group’s second largest location after its headquarters in Oettingen. This year, OeTTINGER has invested EUR 10 million to modernize and future-proof the site.

Minister Ursula Heinen-Esser awarded the prize as part of a celebratory event on 18 November in Düsseldorf. Jürgen Brunacker, technical plant manager at Mönchengladbach, and Heinrich Hartwigsen, Quality Control Manager, accepted it on OeTTINGER’s behalf. Once a year, North Rhine-Westphalia honors businesses which specialize in food production and which are actively tackling social and environmental challenges. Since 2013, the OeTTINGER Mönchengladbach Brewery has been one of the 100 businesses to regularly receive the prize. It is also the second major prize they have received this year. Having won the DLG (German Agricultural Society) Gold Award for five years in a row, in spring 2019, the brewery was presented with the award for long-standing product quality.

Jürgen Brunacker says: “It is an absolute honor for us to receive the state prize for food products 2019 and we are unbelievably proud. “This award is resounding recognition of the quality of our products, our Mönchengladbach location and, of course, the entire OeTTINGER Group. It is a testament to our commitment to top quality and highlights the fact that we are an excellent employer. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their passion and enormous contribution to the business. We would not have won this wonderful award from North Rhine-Westphalia without them.“
