Hospital and care workers are on the front line in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and for months have been working in exceptional circumstances. Now, our colleagues at our Oettingen headquarters have offered them a little token of encouragement. They have donated part of their OeTTINGER monthly drinks allowance to people who have been working in particularly challenging situations throughout the coronavirus crisis.

As a result, three teams in the Donau-Ries district are delighted to receive one palette (40 crates) each of non-alcoholic refreshments: The care staff at the Donau-Ries clinic in Oettingen, the teams from the coronavirus and intensive care unit 6 at the Donau-Ries hospital in Donauwörth and the assistants at the Oettingen care center. After recycling the reusable bottles, the returned deposits went toward boosting the respective team’s coffee break kitty.
Our colleague Rainer Kienzle from the bottling department was behind the initiative. He says: “Our coronavirus heroes have been working to the max for a long time. For us as a workforce, it was important to find a way of putting a smile on some of their faces with our donation!”

Pia Kollmar, Managing Director of OeTTINGER Brewery, highlights the generous spirit behind the initiative: “It is difficult to imagine what ICU staff and nurses go through day in, day out. As a family business, it goes without saying that we want to support them as best as possible and offer a small contribution. Every crate is a token of our huge appreciation.”

Back in February, our apprentices in Mönchengladbach organized a similar initiative for local institutions. Along with Master Brewer Moritz Krech, they took part in the “Jerusalema Challenge” and collected 186 crates of OeTTINGER drinks. These were donated to people involved in the efforts to set up the local vaccination center as well as those working at the coronavirus coordination center and the Mönchengladbach unit for disinfecting ambulances.
