It was 45 years ago that the quality of an OeTTINGER-branded product was first recognized with an award from the German Agricultural Society (DLG). Since then, numerous varieties of OeTTINGER drinks as well as our regional sites across Germany have between them been awarded 343 gold, silver, and bronze medals by the DLG, in addition to claiming 13 regional awards, five federal awards for food products, and 23 prizes for long-standing product quality. Most recently, our Oettingen site was awarded a 13th prize for long-standing product quality!
Meticulous work ensures consistent quality
This long list of awards is also a testament to the hard work of our colleagues in the development and production departments.
“In order to be able to consistently showcase the quality of our products, it is essential that we are meticulous in our work – from the selection of raw materials to the bottling process,” comments Sabareesh Gopalakrishnan, Operations Manager at the Oettingen site, adding that: “When you look at the finished product, you don’t see just how much hard work has gone into it.” For example, every step of the production process is carefully monitored. “Our employees receive top-level training and work with cutting-edge equipment to ensure consistently high quality,” he concludes.
The prize for long-standing product quality is recognition of this consistent pursuit of quality: It is only awarded to manufacturing enterprises that have regularly participated in the product-specific international quality controls at the DLG Test Center Food for at least five years and have won at least three quality awards each year. In the event that a producer does not participate in the quality controls one year, or does not receive the required number of quality awards, it loses its claim to a prize for long-standing product quality as a result.
The award is a reliable quality label, as all products are submitted voluntarily and are subject to in-depth testing. In the category of beer and beer-mix drinks, the sensory characteristics of the products are examined in addition to aspects such as original wort, head retention, color, and cloudiness, among others.
Just a few weeks ago, our four OeTTINGER beers OeTTINGER Helles, OeTTINGER Weißbier alcohol-free, OeTTINGER alcohol-free, and OeTTINGER Natur Radler all won further DLG gold awards once again.
