Our raw materials

  • We capture the CO₂ that is produced during the fermentation process in brewing and reuse it as carbonation for our beverages.
  • We provide the spent grain remaining after brewing, known as brewer’s grain, to farmers who use it as animal feed.
  • We cultivate the yeast for our beers ourselves at each of our two breweries. Any surplus yeast is passed on and used, among other things, as a base ingredient for natural cosmetic products.

Our Locations

Oettingen in Bavaria and Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia are our home bases. This is where we brew, blend, and produce your favorite beverages.
  • At our production sites, we also bottle our beverages and distribute our returnable glass products directly to local markets using our own fleet of trucks.
  • With teams of between 200 and 400 employees at each location, we are also an important local employer.

Returnable bottles

For the German market, we primarily bottle our OeTTINGER beverages in returnable glass bottles. To do so, we use so-called pool bottles: standard bottle designs without any brand-specific labeling. This allows other breweries to use the same bottles for their own products as well.

This is what gives the returnable bottle system its true environmental benefit: the more often a bottle is refilled, the lower its environmental impact per use. On average, our pool bottles are refilled 50 times. The white rings above the label indicate the number of refill cycles a bottle has already completed.

All bottles are packed in the distinctive blue OeTTINGER standard crates. Across more than 30 different products, we use only three bottle shapes and therefore require just three crate types.
