OeTTINGER brewery to have its own marquee at the 2017 Oktoberfest

A litre of beer can cost up to €10.70 at the Oktoberfest. It’s not just the state capital Munich that considers this to be a princely sum. To counter these high prices, the OeTTINGER Brewery has surprisingly received a concession for a marquee as the seventh Bavarian brewery. A litre of beer will cost €4.95 in the “OeTTINGER Beer Hall”.
The concession is an integral part of the plan proposed by Josef Schmid, Assistant Mayor of Munich, to prevent prices from further escalating at the Oktoberfest. He has therefore already placed a cap of the price of beer. Accordingly, a litre may not cost more over the next three years than it did last year.

On tap: OeTTINGER Wiesn Lager at an unbeatably low price
”We were totally confused when we received the invitation from Munich City Council to come to Munich with our own marquee,” explains Jörg Dierig, Managing Director of the OeTTINGER Brewery. “It’s certainly going to do the Oktoberfest on the Wiesn some good if there’s another Bavarian brewery represented, still in family ownership. In terms of quality, we are really only different from the up-scale breweries by the fact that our beer is guaranteed to be GMO-free.”
As the company owns its own fleet of trucks and does not spend money on expensive television advertising, the brewery is able to offer its beer at an unbeatably attractive price, and can even fill the litre ‘stein’ up to the calibration mark! “We’ve heard that it’s not normal at the Oktoberfest but we will deliberately break with this tradition,” explains Mr Dierig.
The brewery developed the recipe for OeTTINGER Wiesn Lager specifically for the Oktoberfest, which is guaranteed to be popular with more wort and a higher alcohol content (6%). The company has already ordered a marquee with space for 20,000 visitors. The recently formed Wiesn Task Force is already in contact with brass bands and has already advertised for serving staff and security personnel – too good to be true? The OeTTINGER Brewery wishes you a Happy April Fools Day!!!!!
