Oettingen headquarters plays host to beer event of the year

At the end of July, the Jakobi-Kirchweih took place once again in Oettingen. This beer festival is steeped in tradition and features a festive parade and marching bands, with everybody decked out in traditional costumes. And of course, a whole array of our OeTTINGER drinks were on hand too.

This year, the festival manager once again chose our OeTTINGER Helles (original wort 11.3%, ABV 4.9%, with a subtle malt aroma and lightly golden in color!) as the official festival beer. A liter – or “Maß” to the locals – of this festival beer will set you back € 9.60. Not bad when you consider that you can expect to pay the best part of € 15.00 per Maß at Oktoberfest in Munich!

The Jakobi-Kirchweih was officially opened in the market square on Friday, July 26 by the Mayor. Our OeTTINGER Brewery floats were also on the scene with the customary oak barrels. Across four days, a funfair and festival marquee offered visitors a great deal to see and do. The highlight of the festival took place on the Saturday evening: After sundown, the well-known water festival and boat parade took place on the river Wörnitz. On the Sunday, tractor enthusiasts both young and old marveled at the 5th Oettingen tractor parade. But the real icing on the cake came the following day, when the festival marquee hosted an evening of cabaret.

Living tradition: The OeTTINGER brewery wagon.
